Pacquiao confirms negotiations with Mayweather team
MANILA, Philippines - Filipino boxing champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao has confirmed that negotiations are ongoing with the camp of unbeaten American Floyd Mayweather Jr. regarding a possible mega-fight.
"Ongoing ang negotiation sa fight namin ni Mayweather, hindi pa final (Negotiations are ongoing for my fight with Mayweather, but nothing is final)," Pacquiao said in a press conference after his homecoming in General Santos City.
Pacquiao said that Mayweather may be more eager to fight him now, after his fight against Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez last November 12 in Las Vegas.
Although he won via majority decision, Pacquiao was not his usual explosive self, and admitted that Marquez's counter-punching style gave him trouble. Many analysts and observers have said that Marquez deserved to win the fight, rather than Pacquiao.
"Nakita n'ya [Mayweather] na, 'pwede ko na labanan si Manny, dahil medyo nahirapan s'ya si Marquez, e si Marquez, binugbog ko [Mayweather] lang'," Pacquiao said of Mayweather. (Mayweather may be thinking, I can fight Pacquiao now because he had trouble against Marquez, and I was able to beat up Marquez).
Mayweather routed Marquez completely when they met in 2009.
It was reported earlier this week that Pacquiao's adviser, Michael Koncz, had traveled to Las Vegas to meet with Top Rank chief executive officer Bob Arum regarding the Mayweather fight.
Pacquiao is hoping that the negotiations will fall into place so that his much awaited mega-fight with Mayweather will finally happen.
"'Yan ang pinakaa-abangan ng boxing fans," he said. (This is what boxing fans are waiting for).
Homecoming
Pacquiao returned to his hometown of General Santos (GenSan) City Thursday, but unlike his other homecomings, he was not accompanied by his mother Dionisia. The boxer said his mother was still sick.
The Sarangani representative was greeted at the airport by GenSan Mayor Darlene Antonino-Custodio.
Although there was a motorcade for Pacquiao, fewer people came out on the streets to greet him.
Pacquiao is set to go to Sarangani province Thursday afternoon, where he will open the 9th Munato Festival. -- With a report from Jay Dayupay, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN

Negotiations happen all the time, agreements not so much
Floyd will not agree to 50/50 purse split.
But wait...As much as Floyd is seen to be scared of the Pacman, he is probably more terrified of taking that defamation deposition and facing Atty. Petrocelli in court. Floyd appears to be hinting that Manny should drop the defamation (and still accept the blood testing bs - talk about having your cake and eat it too!). After ducking the depo so many times, Floyd is required to finally do it by January. I do not expect Floyd to stutter in court, apologize to the 'sushi-eating, one-dimensional midget', cough up lots of money, and lose his blood testing 'crusade'. But hey, dela Hoya has already apologized.

You still dint learn the 3rd time
If you haven't learned to fight marquez the third time, it will be very hard to fight the no. 1 counterpuncher, floyd gayweather, the first time. while you fight differently and impressively vs. mosley, cotto and margarito, your style in the last fight apparently shifted back to your old style of one left punch attack.
if the plan pushes through on may 5, 2012, we will be praying for you. but this time, make us proud to be true filipinos. and of course, dont let us down. it is possible that it's gonna be a 3-fight classic again with gayweather. the 3rd fight of course will always be most difficult because each fighter is already acquainted with other's style and shortcoming. Like the 3rd fight between ali and frazier in thrilla in manila, nobody could tell who was leading until the legendary joe frazier gave up before the 15th round. good luck.

You should be proud reguardless of how Manny fights and hasnt he already done so much to make so many people to be proud of being a Filipino?
