MANILA – The University of Santo Tomas Tigresses swept the Far Eastern U Lady Tams in two games to reach the finals of the Shakey’s V-League Season 6 second conference at The Arena in San Juan Friday.

According to V-league.ph, UST rebounded from a second set setback and put up superior defense against FEU, which lost to the Tigresses in Game 1 of their Final Four match up. The scores were: 25-22, 21-25, 25-11, 25-17.

UST come up with 17 blocks behind Maru Banaticla and Angeli Tabaquero. Aiza Maizo joined the duo in delivering the hits, helping the Tigresses make their 8th finals appearance in V-league.

Banaticla top scored with 19 points and registered 3 blocks, while Tabaguero had 5 blocks and finished with 18 hits, the same score chalked by Maizo.

“We’re happy to be back in the finals. They relaxed a bit in the second set because they knew they can beat them,” said UST coach Cesael de los Santos.

“But we have to stay focused in the finals if we want to win again,” added De los Santos.

Rachel Daquis wound up with 18 hits for FEU, which also drew 12 points from Cherry Vivas and 11 from Monique Tiangco.
