Ginebra's Salvacion-Tubid tandem too much for Coca-Cola

Even with the absence of Jayjay Helterbrand, Barangay Ginebra still managed to defeat the Coca-Cola Tigers, 84-77, as Ronald Tubid and Sunday Salvacion sizzled Thursday during the KFC PBA Philippine Cup at the Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque on Thursday.

The Gin Kings' win forced a five-way logjam for third in the standings.

Tubid charted 22 markers while Salvacion had 21 as the Kings caught up with Talk ‘N Text, Rain or Shine, Sta. Lucia Realty and Air21 at 6-6.

Helterbrand was nursing a groin injury as he watched team mates beat the Tigers in a rematch of their 81-77 win vs Coca-Cola in a previous match.

Despite of the Tigers' determination in the final canto, the Kings made it two in a row as they powered through and stood strong against Coca-Cola.

The Tigers' Junthy Valenzuela and Rafi Reavis failed to carry their team as the squad suffered its eighth loss in 15 outings. The team likewise had its first loss after the return of Ronjay Buenafe and John Arigo from the injured list.
