The Philippine Azkals revived their campaign in the AFF Suzuki Cup after beating powerhouse Vietnam, 1-0, in their Group A match last Tuesday night.
Veteran striker Chieffy Caligdong was the hero for the Philippines, as he entered the match in the second half and scored the lone goal in the 85th minute.
The victory was a repeat of the Azkals' stunning 2-0 victory over Vietnam in the 2010 Suzuki Cup, known as the “Miracle in Hanoi.”
The Philippine Azkals now have three points in Group A, good for second place beyond Thailand. They will face Myanmar on Thursday with a slot in the semi-finals at stake.
