Corteza leads RP contingent to World Team Champs
MANILA -- Fresh from his runner-up finish in the just concluded World Ten Ball Championship, Lee Vann Corteza will banner the country’s campaign in the inaugural WPA World Team Championship in Germany.
“Isang malaking karangalan na mapasama ako sa Team Philippines,” said the Davao City native Corteza, who lost to Mika Immonen of Finland in the finals of World Ten Ball Championship.
Joining Corteza in the Nationals are Ronato Alcano, Antonio Lining, Warren Kiamco, Marlon Manalo and Dennis Orcollo.
Team members were selected based on recent and international tournaments performances according to the Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP).
“Members will go into intensive training to select who will play what discipline,” the BSCP said in a statement.
The pool “Olympics”, slated on January 30 to February 7 next year, will feature 8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball.
