UAAP, NCAA rivals make up Champs League's Final 4
It will be a battle between teams from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and the National Collegiate Athletic Association as the Philippine Collegiate Champions League enters the Final Four stage on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan City.
Reigning UAAP champs Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles are set to wage war against the Knights of Letran College during the 2 p.m. opener.
NCAA crown holders San Beda Red Lions, meanwhile, slug it out against Ateneo arch-rival De La Salle Green Archers in the 4 p.m. main game.
Each of the teams have 2-0 win-loss slates.
Ateneo barged into the Final Four after beating the Mapua Cardinals, 67-53, in the Round of Eight on November 30.
The Knights, on the other hands, took the trip to the Final Four courtesy of a win against the Red Warriors of University of the East, 75-72.
The Lions, for their part, won against Arellano University, 87-72, during the December 3 clash at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.
On that same day, Letran clobbered Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 94-93, to book the seat for the Final Four.
Losers of Saturday's games will face each other for third place on December 8 at the Araneta Coliseum while the winners are set for a do-or-die battle for the top prize, also at the Big Dome.
Ateneo is currently ranked first in the PCCL standings after demolishing La Salle for this season's UAAP basketball crown. At second is San Beda.
La Salle, meanwhile, follows San Beda while the Jose Rizal U Heavy Bombers are at fourth. The Bombers lost to San Beda in the NCAA Finals.
