UAAP football: FEU still unbeaten in 4 games
MANILA, Philippines -- FAR Eastern University (FEU) nipped University of the East (UE), 1-0, to remain unbeaten and cut short the Red Warriors’ amazing start in UAAP Season 76 men's football tournament Saturday at the FEU Diliman pitch.
The Tamaraws grabbed the top of the table with 12 points with their fourth consecutive victory, while handing the Red Warriors their first loss of the season.
Angelou Val Jurao nailed the clincher goal for FEU, eluding a wall of UE defenders to score on a free kick on the 69th minute.
The Tamaraws were the more aggressive side, punishing the Warriors with 21 shots on the goal.
UE remained with 10 points to drop to second place on a 3-1-1 win-draw-loss record.
The Warriors played in the second half minus ace striker Fitch Arboleda, who injured his hamstring just five minutes left before the break. Arboleda, a former national under-19 mainstay, is the league's top goalscorer with five.
