CANASTOTA, New York – Former world light flyweight champion Chang Jung-Koo and ex-featherweight world champion Danny Lopez were among 12 men voted into the International Hall of Fame, officials said Tuesday.

Chang, who went 38-4 with 17 knockouts, became the first South Korean fighter elected to the honor shrine and will be inducted on June 13, 2010 along with Lopez, 42-6 with 39 knockouts.

Chang, 46, turned pro in 1980 and won his first 18 fights before losing his first world title bout to Panama's Hilario Zapata in 1982.

The "Korean Hawk" won his next 19 fights over more than seven years, including a third-round stoppage of Zapata in 1983 to claim the crown he would hold until 1989.

Chang retired in 1988 but returned to the ring after more than a year's absence and suffered losses in three of his last four fights.

His final fight produced his only defeat inside the distance when he knocked down Muangchai Kittikasem three times but was caught in the final round as he pressed to finish off the Thai fighter and win back his world title.

Joining Chang in the Hall will be Americans Lopez, manager Shelly Finkel, matchmaker Bruce Trampler, journalist Ed Schuyler, German promoter Wilfried Sauerland and referee-commissioner Larry Hazzard.

Posthumous honorees in voting by a panel of boxing writers and historians will include light heavyweight Lloyd Marshall, featherweight champion Young Corbett II, lightweight champion Rocky Kansas, heavyweight fighter Billy Miske, pioneer Paddington Tom Jones and television commentator Howard Cosell.

Cosell was best known as a foil for Muhammad Ali in television appearances, helping keep him in the spotlight during the years he was banned from boxing for refusing to enlist in the US Army and fight in Vietnam.
