Indonesia pulls out of SEAG women's football
MANILA, Philippines – Indonesia has pulled out of the women’s football competition in the Southeast Asian Games, although a re-draw was not deemed unnecessary by the organizers, according to a report from the SEA Games website.
Indonesia was originally part of Group A, which also included Vietnam, Myanmar and the Philippines.
Timor Leste earlier pulled out of the competition as well. They were originally in Group B along with Thailand, Laos and Malaysia.
The Philippine Malditas will thus have an easier road to the next round with Indonesia out of the competition.
Although there was no re-draw, the schedule of the matches was changed. Instead of two matches a day, there will only be one match per day.
The Malditas open their campaign against hosts Myanmar at the Mandalar Thiri Stadium on Tuesday.
