MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is set to arrive in the Philippines on Wednesday, following his heartbreaking loss to Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez.

"Darating kami dyan Wednesday," said Pacquiao, who suffered a sixth-round knockout at the hands of Marquez in their fourth encounter, in an interview on ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda.

Pacquiao and his wife, Jinkee, will first leave Las Vegas for Los Angeles, California before finally flying to the Philippines on Monday (US time).

The Pacquiao couple will be in the Philippines just in time for the birthday of their son, Michael, on December 12.

The boxing champion will then celebrate his birthday on December 17.

Pacquiao, who has chosen to live a more prayerful Christian life, accepted his fate and said there are other things more valuable than winning.

"[They're] only material things. In heaven, walang popular-popular doon, pantay-pantay tayo," he said.

"Importante yung relationship mo, yung faith mo. Yung relationship mo sa Panginoon nandiyan, mas lalo pang tumindi, kasi karamihan sa tao yung faith nila in good times lang. Pag bad times, katulad ng mga nangyari katulad ko, yung faith nila nababawasan, nawawala."

His wife, Jinkee, also backed up her husband.

"Yung fame and fortune will come and go. Keep the faith and trust in God for everything, He has great plans. Kailangan i-accept lang lahat," she added.

Pacquiao said he did everything to demolish his Mexican archenemy inside the ring.

"Hindi naman tayo nagkulang. Ang ganda ng galaw natin, ang kundisyon maganda, 'yun naman ang hinahanap ng mga tao," he said.

"Ganon talaga yan, 'di naman pwedeng pumunta ka sa isang larangan na walang matatalo. Darating ang panahon na matalo ka," he added.

Despite appeals from some of his family members, Pacquiao said he is not yet hanging up his boxing gloves.

"Laban pa ulit," said Pacquiao, noting that he plans to take a rest first before discussing his next fight with his promoter, Top Rank's Bob Arum. – with a report from Dyan Castillejo, dzMM
