Rousey to make UFC debut vs Carmouche
MANILA, Philippines – Female MMA fighter “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey will make her UFC debut against former Strikeforce contender Liz Carmouche.
UFC president Dana White said the Rousey-Carmouche fight will serve as the main event of UFC 157 on February 23.
“In the UFC, Feb. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. (Ronda Rousey) will be fighting Liz Carmouche, and she is the main event,” said White in Yahoo! Sports.
White said Carmouche, who has a record of seven wins and two losses, is the only fighter who stepped up to challenge the popular Rousey.
“That's who wanted to fight her. Believe me, people aren't kicking the door down at Zuffa wanting to fight [Rousey],” he said.
Rousey, who remains unbeaten in six fights, is the first female fighter signed by the UFC.
