Pacquiao KO was nasty, says unbeaten Garcia

MANILA, Philippines – Unbeaten American boxer Danny Garcia was highly impressed with Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez’s shocking knockout of Filipino superstar Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao last December 8 in Las Vegas.

Garcia (25-0, 16 KOs), the reigning WBA, WBC and RING light-welterweight champion, was asked by Chris Robinson of Examiner if he believes Pacquiao can bounce back from the knockout.

“Man, I don’t know,” Garcia answered.

Pacquiao and Marquez exchanged knockdowns before the Mexican landed a perfectly placed right hand on the Filipino, who walked straight into the punch.

Pacquiao was knocked out with just a second left in the sixth round.

“That was nasty,” Garcia said. “I haven’t seen nothing like that in years. That was crazy.”

Although Garcia was impressed with Marquez’s performance, he believes the veteran Mexican will be vulnerable against the other fighter who defeated Pacquiao this year: Timothy Bradley Jr.

“I think Bradley could beat him,” Garcia said, pointing out that Bradley would be the “younger guy” against the 39-year-old Marquez.

“You’ve got to stay away from young guys, man. This is a young man’s sport,” he said.
