Randolph grabs 24 boards to lead Grizzlies past Nuggets
MEMPHIS – Zach Randolph had 32 points and 24 rebounds as Memphis beat Denver 102-96, spoiling a superb 41-point performance by Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony on Sunday.
Randolph's 24 rebounds was a career high and the highest single game total in the National Basketball League this season.
Randolph's three-pointer with 43 seconds left put Memphis ahead 100-91.
Rudy Gay scored 19 points for the Grizzlies, which snapped an eight-game losing streak to Denver.
Marc Gasol had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and OJ Mayo and Mike Conley scored 11 apiece.
Anthony led Denver with 41 points, and Nene finished with 19 points. Chris Andersen had a season-high 14 rebounds.
Anthony scored 25 points in the second half and Denver mounted a rally but eventually fell short.
The Nuggets were playing their second consecutive game without second leading scorer Chauncey Billups, who is recovering from a left groin strain.
