Marquez willing to fight Pacquiao on May 5
MANILA, Philippines -- World lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez said he will be willing to fight Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao for a fourth time on May 5, 2012.
All of Pacquiao and Marquez's three fights have ended in controversy. Their last meeting, held November 12 in Las Vegas, was a majority decision victory for Pacquiao, yet many boxing observers felt Marquez was the rightful winner.
"Regarding the rematch with Pacquiao, I hope that it happens on May 5," Marquez told Boxing Scene.
A fourth fight between the two fighters has become more possible now that undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been sentenced to 90 days in prison for a 2010 domestic violence charge.
Marquez added that if a fourth fight between Pacquiao does materialize, he hopes that it will not be held in Las Vegas, where he feels judges and officials are biased in the Filipino's favor.
Many boxing fans are hoping that Pacquiao and Mayweather will finally clash on May 5, 2012.
Pacquiao had confirmed that negotiations between the two camps were ongoing, but Mayweather's jail sentence has seemingly put a hold on all discussions.
Aside from Marquez, other fighters being considered as potential Pacquiao opponents are Miguel Cotto, Timothy Bradley, and Lamont Peterson.

Unless Manny Pacquiao discards all the personal distractions (large entourage, too much media exposure, his 'singing,' the women, the lure of living in luxury, and his political aspirations), he will DEFINITELY lose to Marquez badly! NO CONTEST, actually!
