New Jersey Nets: So good on road, so bad at home
EAST RUTHERFORD - Derrick Rose scored 21 points and Andres Nocioni added 17 more Monday to spark Chicago past New Jersey 100-87, snapping a 13-game Bulls' losing streak at New Jersey dating to 2001.
Rose, a rookie who turned 20 in October, added 13 assists while Nocioni hit 10 points in the fourth quarter as Chicago ended a seven-game road losing streak this season as well as the seven-year hex on the Nets' home court.
"I think I was in grammar school, not even thinking about the NBA back then," Rose said.
The Nets have lost four in a row and seven of eight at home, falling to 5-12 on the season at home while sporting one of the NBA's top road marks at 10-4, the first time in NBA history a team has been so bad at home and good away.
Vince Carter led New Jersey with 31 points. Devin Harris added 26 but the other players combined for only 30 points on 13-of-41 shooting.
China's Yi Jianlian went 1-of-6 for two points while grabbing seven rebounds.
The Bulls, 10-3 at home but now just 4-14 on the road, last won in New Jersey on April 17, 2001.
"I didn't know the number of games and years, but I knew it had been a long time," said Ben Gordon. "It was crazy that it had been that long. We've been struggling on the road all season and we really needed to get a win."
Gordon had 24 points while Larry Hughes added 17 for the Bulls, who were without injured standouts Luol Deng and Drew Gordon, both out with ankle troubles.
