MANILA, Philippines -- Seven-time world champion Manny Pacquiao has submitted himself to a urine test on Wednesday pursuant to Nevada State Athletic Commission’s (NSAC) recent order for a test within 48-hours.

The dope test, which took place at Pacquiao’s mansion in General Santos City, was conducted by Dr. Alejandro Pineda of the Philippine Sports Commission. Pineda is accredited by the World Anti Doping Agency.

Pacquiao submitted urine samples contained in versapak canisters before heading to his daughter Queen Elizabeth’s birthday party.

Pineda said the samples, which will be tested against 30 performance enhancement drugs, will be sent to Malaysia.

He said the results will come out in 2 weeks.

Pacquiao, for his part, said he is confident that he will pass the test.

Based on NSAC orders

Pineda, accompanied by another doping control officer, arrived at the General Santos City Airport Wednesday morning based on the NSAC order for Pacquiao to submit to urine testing.

“’Yong pagpunta namin dito, request ng Nevada Athletic Commission,” said Pineda.

He said this was the first time for him to test Pacquiao.

Upon hearing Pineda’s arrival, Pacquiao’s mother, Mommy Dionisia, warned the doctor from sabotaging the test.

Pineda, however, assured that the test will follow a strict process.

“One is for notification, then awareness and fulfillment of procedural requirements. There will be careful handling of the specimen,” he explained.

NSAC stepping into doping row

The NSAC was forced to step into the ongoing drug testing hullaballoo between the camps of Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

“I don't know if this will help the chances of the fight happening. But with all this talk of drug tests, let's actually do one,” NSAC executive director Keith Kizer said in an Agence France-Presse report.

The commission called on Pacquiao and Mayweather to submit to urine tests within 48 hours or else they would face possible fines or suspension.

The order on the urine testing is based on an out-of-competition testing regulation that went into effect in 2008, AFP noted.

The state of Nevada will pay for the tests, which cost about $150. The city of Las Vegas was chosen as the venue of the Pacquiao-Mayweather bout slated on March 13.

“That at least starts the ball rolling,” Kizer added. “We're always hopeful that when we do drug testing it comes back negative.” With a report from Anne Santos, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN

Ano ang nangyari? Di ba wala?

Ano ang nangyari? Di ba wala? Why would a man like Manny put a bad record on his name?

Pacquiao vs Margarito | Martinez vs Williams | Haye vs Harrison

And the result is...

Maybe Manny should submit a blood test also along with the urinalysis he just took yesterday. And I'm not talking about random blood testing for the fight, but blood testing right now. That way that should silence both debates about urinalysis is enough and blood testing is necessary. I'm not a doctor or an expert so I'm not going into the debate of whether urinalysis is enough. Some experts say it is enough. Others say no, like Victor Conte of BALCO. This guy practically invented steroids and designed them specifically to hide it from urinalysis and even blood. He himself said, there are PEDs that can only be seen in the blood. I don't know, like I said I'm not a doctor or an expert nor will I pretend to be one and make comments like I know any better.

The sad part about this whole thing is, even if, and I'm saying if he wins his lawsuit against the Mayweathers and GBP (it's no guarantee he'll win), it will not stop all the speculations and accusations. There are countless people who believe Manny is clean and there are countless people who think he's on PEDs as well. The public is divided on this issue. Let's just say Manny wins the lawsuit, a gag order on the Mayweathers and GBP maybe put in place to stop them from talking, but that doesn't mean the other people who believe Manny is on roids will stop talking. Is Manny going to sue those people as well? If so, then he'd have to sue the many, many people who think he's dirty, and there are as many of them as there are people who believe Manny is clean.

Personally, I don't believe Manny has ever taken steroids or any other PEDs. But in my opinion, the only way he can really stop all the accusations and speculations is to submit to blood testing, as a bonus, get in the ring and beat the living hell out of Floyd, get paid at least $30M, prove without a shadow of doubt that he's clean, he'd get his sweet revenge against all the doubters, and he'd feel much better. Unfortunately, we live in a new age where innocent until proven guilty doesn't have a lot of meaning anymore. It's a world where you can be guilty in the public eye even if you're there's no proof against you. In the justice system, the accuser has to prove the accused is guilty. But in the real world, it's the accused who has to prove his innocence. Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Marion Jones, just to name a few. All world class elite athletes, all are accused of steroid use but never been proven nor have they tested positive for drugs, now their careers and reputations are ruined because they refuse to prove to the public that they are clean.

Is it right for the public to convict anyone without proof? Of course not but unfortunately that's how our sick, twisted world we live in work today.

Hopeful

Hopeful that there will never be cheating issue that will come out after the test result and that the testing process is clean and truthful.
