Report: Pacquiao’s blood tested 24 days prior to Hatton fight
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino champ Manny Pacquiao may have underwent blood testing before his fight against Briton Ricky Hatton but it was done 24 days before the fight, according to boxing Website report.
A report by BoxingScene.com’s Rick Reeno said that according to a document copy outlining Pacquiao's blood test for his May 2 fight with Hatton, the test was taken by Dr. Richard Gluckman and sent to Quest Diagnostics on April 8, 2009.
This is 24 days before the fight with Hatton, contrary to claims made by the camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr. that the test was done 14 days before the May 2 fight.
The Mayweather camp used a footage of HBO reality show “Pacquiao/Hatton 24/7” to counter Pacquiao’s claim that giving blood near the fight affects his performance inside the ring.
The negotiation for a blockbuster Pacquiao-Mayweather fight has went into a deadlock when Mayweather’s camp demanded Olympic-style drug testing, insinuating that the Filipino might have been using performance enhancement drugs.
Pacquiao has opposed Mayweather's demand for random blood testing within 30 days of the fight, instead agreeing to take 3 blood tests: the first during the week of the kickoff news conference in early January, the second random test to be conducted no later than 30 days before the fight, and a final test after the fight.
The Mayweather camp, however, claimed that blood testing never weakened Pacquiao, using the 24/7 footage as “proof”.
This has led to Top Rank promoter Bon Arum saying he might ask the Filipino boxing superstar to “tighten” the window for a blood test.
Arum said he will only do this once they establish the actual date of the test.
"I will transmit it [word of Pacquiao's '24/7' test] to Manny once [HBO Sports president] Ross Greenburg establishes the actual date of the test in ‘24/7' and [the Mayweather camp] makes a proposal based on what Ross has come up with," Arum told ESPN.com.
"If that happens, I am sure I can convince Manny [to tighten the testing window],” he added.

Let's get ready to rumble
Pacquiao just take the blood test and let the fight begin. Kick Mayweather's damn ass.

manny lost to erik morales because he had blood drawn the day before? wow! what a pathetic lame as$ observation and excuse. that's right up there with "my dog ate my book report excuse". not to mention an absolute disrespect to erik morales. manny lost that fight simply because erik was the better fighter that night, and the blood test has absolutely nothing to do with it. not even manny and roach used that excuse. manny has a lot respect for morales and did not made an excuse for losing to him the first fight. back in his first fight with morales, manny was still a one-dimensional fighter who relied too much on his left hand. after that fight, roach molded manny even better and added the right to his arsenal and after that he hasn't lost since.
legal posssibilities point a much better scenario for manny, he can make as much money by winning it? tell me when was the last time a celebrity won a $30M defamation suit in a U.S. court? ever since the supreme court started using the first amendment defense, defamation lawsuits are the most difficult cases to win in a U.S. court. you can ask those hollywood celebrities who've been suing the national enquirer, and other supermarket tabloid papers for years. is it possible for him to win that lawsuit? possibly but the odds are not on his side. sorry but that's america my man. jacka$ses always use their first amendment rights when they get sued.
mayweather and golden boy are demanding random drug testing is because they think manny is on roids, simple as that not because they realized manny is afraid of blood testing. is mayweather scared of manny? yeah, i agree with you. my thing is manny should just stick that needle in his arm, take ity bity of his blood, climb up the ring and whoop mayweather's a$s as we all like to see.
Manny should never Mayweather fight him coz Mayweather does not
Manny should just forget ever entering into talks with the Mayweathers, they obviously are avoiding him and they found a convenient way at it. Let's face it Floyd has done this before many times over. Now they saw the tape of your (ABS CBN) interview with Manny after he took a bloodtest a day before fighting Eric Morales. I took a look at Manny and saw that he was going to lose the next day judging from his mental state at that interview. He was in panic mode. I hope you air this particular segment again which I believe is in your archives, then the world will know why Manny dislikes the idea of random testing. That segment explains it all. Whoever does the research for the Mayweather team did their homework. It is understandable that they would like to gain an advantage for Floyd and lucky for them they found it in that segment of your interview. I believe it was Dyan Castillejos who did it, but I'm not sure. Whatever this is something we can show to the world why Mannny dislikes random testing. He does not object to the drug testing but the timing of the random test. The night before the fight, they are going to rub off his strength and confidence. Without much of his strength at full gear, he will find difficulty in knocking Floyd up or not even knock him down. Then Floyd will have the advantage. Let's face it this guy does not have the balls to fight Manny, he knows he will lose, and they found a way to reason their way out of the fight. But if Manny accepts this then they have lesser worries and might have enough nerve to face Manny, only after robbing him of his strength and confidence can they achieve this. Anyway the legal posssibilities point a much better scenario for Manny, he can make as much money by winning this, which I think he will. God bless the man.
Change coming soon to Boxing...
I think there's going to be some big time changes to boxing real soon as a result of the debacle created by the negotiations for this fight. Not necessarily because of this fight but it kinda woke everyone up about the whole issue of drugs. I believe, soon there will be a much stiffer drug testing in boxing that will follow steps taken by other major sports like in the NFL, MLB, NBA, which will probably include random urine and blood testing not just before and after fights. The state commissions, regulators, and the major sanctioning organizations will probably be sitting down soon and discuss changes to the drug testing process.
In my opinion I think boxing needs a stricter testing protocol and it absolutely has nothing to do with what's going on with the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight (as both have never tested + before) but rather this goes back the last few years are proof of why. It's been proven by the number of fighters who have been caught using performance enhancing drugs, or admitted to it. Mosley, Vargas, Toney, Botha, among others. If there's a sport today that needs a more stricter drug policy it's boxing. It's not like baseball where you hit a ball. You're talking about hitting another human being. A steroid powered punch could easily kill anyone. As a sport, boxing should seriously address this issue.
If they're going to do stricter drug testing for the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight, then they'll have to do it for all other fights as well.

And the result is...
Maybe Manny should submit a blood test also along with the urinalysis he just took yesterday. And I'm not talking about random blood testing for the fight, but blood testing right now. Then you'll have results for both methods of testing just to be sure and that way that should silence both debates about urinalysis is enough and blood testing is necessary. I'm not a doctor or an expert so I'm not going into the debate of whether urinalysis is enough. Some experts say it is enough. Other experts says no, like Victor Conte of BALCO. This guy practically invented designer steroids and designed them specifically to hide it from urinalysis and even blood, and other testing methods. He himself said, there are PEDs that can only be seen in the blood. If there's one person who knows steroids inside out, it's this guy. I'm not saying he's right. I don't know, like I said I'm not a doctor or an expert nor will I pretend to be one and make comments like I know any better.
The sad part about this whole thing is, even if, and I'm saying if he wins his lawsuit against the Mayweathers and GBP (it's no guarantee he'll win), it will not stop all the speculations and accusations. There are countless people who believe Manny is clean and there are countless people who think he's on PEDs as well. The public is divided on this issue. Let's just say Manny wins the lawsuit, a gag order on the Mayweathers and GBP maybe put in place to stop them from talking, but that doesn't mean the other people who believe Manny is on roids will stop talking. Is Manny going to sue those people as well? If so, then he'd have to sue the many, many people who think he's dirty, and there are as many of them as there are people who believe Manny is clean.
Personally, I don't believe Manny has ever taken steroids or any other PEDs. But in my opinion, the only way he can really stop all the accusations and speculations is to submit to blood testing, and as a bonus get in the ring and beat the living hell out of Floyd, get paid at least $30M, and then prove without a shadow of doubt that he's clean, he'd get his sweet revenge against all the doubters, and he'd feel much better. Unfortunately, we live in a new age where innocent until proven guilty doesn't have a lot of meaning anymore. It's a world where you can be guilty in the public eye based on rumors and speculations, even if there's no proof against you. In the justice system, the accuser has to prove the accused is guilty. But in the real world, it's the accused who has to prove his innocence. Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Marion Jones, just to name a few. All world class elite athletes, all are accused of steroid use but never been proven nor have they tested positive for drugs, now their careers and reputations are ruined because they refuse to prove to the public that they are clean. Again Manny can file his lawsuit, he may even win and perhaps get a monetary settlement, but it will not put an end to the accusations. It probably will stop the Mayweathers from making accusations but it will not stop the public from still making it. I came to my opinion on what Manny should do because he's a good man, a pretty stand up guy, and I hate to see his career and repuation destroyed. I think he should seriously take a look back at history especially those athletes I mentioned, learn from their downfall, and prevent the same thing from happening to him.
Is it right for the public to convict anyone without proof? Does Manny technically have to prove anything? Of course not but unfortunately that's how our sick, twisted world we live in work today.
