Is the Philippines ready for automated elections?
Join Karen Davila as she examines the Precinct Count Optical Scanner (PCOS ) machines, which will be used to count the votes in the upcoming 2010 elections this Tuesday, Feb 16 on “The Correspondents” on ABS-CBN.
Three months before May 10, 2010 comes in, preparations for the very first automated elections in the Philippines is on-going. Others are already expecting a faster and cleaner result.
However, in the mock elections conducted by the Commission on Elections in Araullo High School, there were instances when the PCOS machine did not accept the ballots, did not count the votes due to wrong shadings in the ballot, and did not send results due to lack of signal.

Informative & excellent way of educating both the Public and the COMELEC. Pero me concern lang ako na di nabanggit sa episode. Ang greatest fear ni Chiz na possible na mangyari ang cheating is during transmission. Tama yun. Pero ang tanong ko lang ay: "Confirmed ba na kulang pa ang Voting Machines? Paano ma-a-account ang lahat ng Voting Machines? YUng mga demo machine, kanino at sino ang mag-ha-handle nyan? Ang greatest fear ko is not during "Voting, not during Counting, not during Transmission"..but kung me mga extrang Voting Machines na nakatago somewhere, say in Palawan or Abra or in Tondo... na nag-fe-feed ng additional Votes para sa isang Kandidato." Baka naman di na kulang ang Voting Machines kundi..ganito lang ang perception para matakpan ang excess na gagamitin sa pandaraya.

ON the latest Episode of 'The Correspondents'
Ang ganda ng episode kagabi ng 'The Correspondents.' I think kelangang siguraduhin ng ABS-CBN na mapapanood yun ng lahat ng mga botante. Karen Davila's story is the best way to educate the voters. Dapat magkaroon ng special telecast--for example, every weekend ipalabas yung episode na yun hanggang matapos ang campaign period. The voters should really know lahat ng dapat malaman tungkol sa automated elections. Congratulations!
