Dynamite fisherman gets second lease on life
Veteran Broadcaster Ces Drilon unveils the survival story of a fisherman who lost an arm and almost lost his mind due to dynamite-fishing this Thursday night, August 13 on “I Survived.”
Romulo Oncepido is a 44-year-old fisherman in Rosario, Cavite. Since he doesn’t earn much, he took to dynamite-fishing, and even invented his own dynamite to make ends meet. He never thought that the first time he would use explosives would also be his last as the dynamite blasted his arm away. Worse, he developed suicidal tendencies while recovering from the trauma.
For the peril it brings to marine and human life, dynamite fishing has been banned by the law. However, many seafarers still continue using and creating homemade bombs despite the impending risks.
Watch Ces Drilon as she exposes Oncepido’s life-threatening experience and life-changing survival this Thursday, August 13 on “I Survived” after “Bandila,” on ABS-CBN.
