The Correspondents: Applying peace lessons learned in US
Twenty young Filipinos from Mindanao continue their journey for peace as they return to their homeland from a study in the United States. Join Abner Mercado as he looks into their efforts in their communities on Tuesday night, September 1, on “The Correspondents.”
Through the Philippine Youth Leadership Program, 20 Filipino youth were sent to the US last April to learn methods on preserving peace and order in their hometown.
One of them was nursing student Fatima Al-Zarah. Fatima has since begun applying her learning in the US by spearheading a project that provides school supplies to Badjao students.
Like Fatima, Jasmine Hosni and Shervina Annie were also sent to study abroad for free, this time with the help of the Youth Exchange and Study Program. Abner also documented their endeavors in order to help their homeland.
