SuperFerry 9 survivor recounts tragedy on 'I Survived'
“Bago kami umakyat sa barko, may nakapansin na na parang tagilid.” This observation will now forever haunt Virginia Martinez, a mother of eight from South Cotabato.
She is one of the survivors from the recent Super Ferry tragedy, which claimed the lives of 10 people. Join Ces Drilon as she hears out Virginia’s story of survival on “I Survived” this Thursday (September 17) on ABS-CBN.
Virginia boarded the M/V Super Ferry 9 with her son, a niece, and two nephews. She was excited to go to Manila to visit her kids who are based in the city. However, on September 6 this year, a loud thud awakened her and the rest of the passengers…and then came the realization, the M/V Super Ferry 9 was about to sink.
The hours that followed were the longest hours of their lives. The decisions that Virginia would have to make would mean life and death for her and her family.
How did she survive the shark-infested waters of the Sulu Sea? And what happened to her family members who boarded the ship with her?
Virginia recounts her experience, and shares her story with Ces Drilon on MTRCB’s Best Reality Show, “I Survived,” Thursday (Sep 17), after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
