MANILA -- ABS-CBN Corp. beat its profit target last year and earned P1.7 billion, although that was 29% below the income recorded in 2011, when profit was boosted by the sale of a stake in Sky Cable.

ABS-CBN chief financial officer Rolando Valdueza said he expects this year to yield better earnings since it's an election year.
