MANILA - In an interview with Ricky Carandang on ANC's Business Nightly, Globe Telecoms chief legal counsel and senior advisor Rodolfo Salalima recalled that it was President Gloria Arroyo herself who said in her recent State of the Nation Address that tobacco and alcohol should be taxed. But in the proposed text tax law recently passed by a House panel, Salalima noted that the provision banning mobile phone firms from passing on the text tax to consumers singles out the telco industry. He said all other public service companies are allowed to pass these on. "Going to court on the unconstitutionality of this bill is an option," he said.
