Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap told ANC's Business Nightly that he still prefers not to talk about rice import volume or announce the advance strategy of his department since rice exporting countries may take a position against the Philippines, the world's biggest rice importer. He also gave an update on the damages wrought by the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng on agriculture: close to 500 hectares of agriculture land, and supply equivalent to 10-20 days.
