The "kilig-serye" starring Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap is a finalist in the "Telenovelas" category at the 2013 New York Festival's World's Best Television & Films competition, the award-giving body announced in its official website on Thursday.

Another Kapamilya series, "Budoy," is also a finalist in the Drama category. Starring Gerald Anderson, the primetime series aired its last episode in March last year.

Two current affairs programs of ABS-CBN were also among the finalists at the festival announced Thursday: "Failon Ngayon" for its episode "Mine Tailings" and "Krusada" for its episode "Bata ng Tahanan."

"Johnny: The Juan Ponce Enrile Story," the TV special on the life of the incumbent Senate president, is also a finalist in the Biography/Profiles category.

The 3D animated special "Ang Simula: The Natural History of the Philippines," meanwhile, is a finalist in the History & Society category.

Another Kapamilya entry in the list of finalists is "A Call to Arms," which is included in the Sports Program Promotion category.

According to the official website of New York Festivals, a yet-to-be-named actress is also a finalist in the Best Performance category for her portrayal in the ABS-CBN drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya."

Six other Filipino programs are also among the finalists in the 2013 New York Festivals.

Aside from the Philippines, around 50 other countries are participating in the competition.

This year, the New York Festivals' jury for the international TV and films competition is composed of over 170 international directors, producers, writers, actors and other creative media professionals. Among them is Engelbert Apostol of ABS-CBN.

The 56th New York Festivals International Television and Film Awards will be held on April 9 and 10 at NAB Show in Las Vegas.
