MANILA, Philippines -- Actress-host Kris Aquino said she was praying for her brother, President Benigno Aquino III, in the days leading to the historic verdict In the impeachment trial of Supreme Court Justice Renato Corona.
The President's youngest sister took a three-week break from her hosting duties for the morning show "KrisTV" to spend time with her sons Joshua and James Yap Jr.
They returned to the country last Tuesday, just before the verdict on the Corona impeachment trial was announced.
"Pwede kong i-share sa inyong lahat kasi nag-permission naman ako. Siyempre noong pauwi ako dito ay hindi pa nag-start ang botohan sa Senado so talagang I was praying. So nag-text ako kay PNoy noong dumating (kami), 'just landed prayed rosary for you everyday,'' she told viewers of "KrisTV" on Thusday.
She also immediately congratulated her brother after the senator-judges convicted Corona.
"Sabi ko, 'congrats Noy.' Tapos ang ni-reply niya 'Congratulations to our people and thanks be to God.' Hanggang doon na lang ang usapan," she said.
The President's sister also said her kids brought Geox shoes for their uncle.
"Yung shoes na simple lang, favorite niya 'yon," she said.
Dinner with apl
Meanwhile, Kris also said she had dinner with Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.ap in Los Angeles.
"Yes, naka-dinner ko si Apl.de.ap sa Korea Town sa Star Barbecue, dinala niya ako noong Sunday night," she said.
During their dinner, the Filipino-American artist also extended an invitation to host a dinner for President Aquino when he visits the United States next week.
President Aquino will meet with the Fil-Am community in Los Angeles, California after his June 8 White House meeting.
Last year, the President extended his gratitude to apl.de.ap for his initiative to help improve the education situation in the country.
"So, tsinika ko na kay Noy kaysa pagalitan pa ako later on, hindi ba? 'I was with Apl for dinner in LA. He said to tell you if you have dinner free next week when you are in LA it's his turn to host you.' Eh sabi ni Noynoy, 'I will just spending hours in LA tell him thanks,'" she said.
