Battle of big voices for Team Apl
MANILA – Laguna student Jessica Reynoso is moving on to the live performances of “The Voice of the Philippines” after coach apl.de. ap chose her over former "1DOL" actress Emmanuelle Vera as the battle rounds of the hit talent competition continued on Sunday.
The two singers were given Pink’s hit song “Just Give Me A Reason” for the battles, which drew positive comments from coaches Lea Salonga and Sarah Geronimo.
“I like the way show is starting with these pretty girls with big voices,” Salonga said, while Geronimo gushed, “Ang galing ninyo. Ang gaganda ninyo pa.”
The two women coaches, however, unanimously picked Reynoso as the winner, as did Journey lead vocalist Arnel Pineda, who is helping alp.de.ap with his team.
“We thought Emman is the one na maiiwan but you’ve proven me wrong,” Pineda said. “But it was Jessica na talagang umangat sa kantang ito.”
Apl praised her two contestants for doing “an amazing job.”
“You showed the strength that I’ve never seem during rehearsals and our jamming sessions. You went for it,” apl told Vera.
“Jessica, you started jittery but you just flew away and you were soaring. This moment, I;m gonna have to give it to Jessica,” he said.
