Lumipad nitong Sabado ng umaga papuntang Mactan, Cebu ang cast ng "Agua Bendita" para sa isang mall tour.
Masayang nagpapasalamat si Andi Eigenmann sa mga sumubaybay sa programa na nalalapit na rin ang pagtatapos.
Excited rin si Andi sa pelikulang gagawin sa Regal Films kung saan gagampanan niya ang role ni Dina Bonnevie sa Temptation Island.
Umani naman ng batikos sa mga internet blogs at sites ang pahayag ni 1969 Miss Universe na si Gloria Diaz tungkol sa paggamit ng interpreter sa mga international beauty pageants.
Agad naman itong nilinaw ni Gloria Diaz.
“Let me clarify once and for all. This is what I said, 'People should have the right to say or to answer, not people, beauty contestants, to answer in whatever language they want to say it in. If they’re Cebuanos, they can say it in Cebuano.’ I did not say that they (Cebuanos) can’t speak English,” ani Diaz.
Sa huli, idinaan na lamang ni Diaz sa biro ang mga negatibong reaksyon sa kanyang sinabi.

I'm really sick of how Tagalogs think they're the center of the Philippines. Metro Manila is one of the dirtiest cities I've been to, and I've been to a lot of cities elsewhere in the Philippines. I'm actually ashamed that it's our capital.
It's outright stereotyping, and something even ABS-CBN and GMA openly makes fun of. Reading the comments section here though, I'm kind of embarrassed that BOTH Cebuanos and Tagalogs posting here have really horrible English. But then again, what did you expect from an education system that favors the "Filipino" language (really just glorified Tagalog, pun intended) with its dumbed down alphabet and childish spellings? We force our students to use P instead of F, B instead of V, K instead of C, with predictable results. Makes me wish Spanish was still a compulsory language in our schools.
That said, to Gloria and Tagalogs, it's high time you realize there's an entire country below Luzon, with millions of other Filipinos. The really idiotic thing about it is she won't admit what she just said. Ganyan na ba talaga kabobo ang tingin ninyo sa aming mga Bisaya? Obvious na obvious naman, dinedeny pa eh. The least you can do is be honest about it.
Kung sa inyong paminaw ang bisaya gahi sa dalunggan, imagine kung unsa sa among paminaw ang Tagalog. Ang inyong sinultian humok kaayo, murag malanay ka'g paminaw. At least gamay ra mi'g mga affixes, dili pareha sa inyong sinultian na murag tongue twister.

I agree with bjudge on Gloria that she was just referring to one person, a beauty candidate in a Q&A situation. Naging pangit nga ang dating ng sinabi ni Gloria “the Cebuana” dapat sana ay “a Cebuana” or Tagalog or Bicol. Marami kasing beauties from Cebu kaya siguro yun ang nasample nya. Kung ang ni-sample ni Gloria ay TAGALASANG malamang walang pagtatalo dahil hindi naman talaga alam mag inggles ng lahat sa region na yun. Masakit nga siguro kung sabihan ang isang ethnic group na marunong lahat ng isang foreign language eg:English tapos sasabihing hinde. Pero mabuti din naman ang nangyaring ganito dahil nagkalam-alam na kung sino ang tamang magsulat o magsalita ng standard English at Phil-English na mga Pinoys here and the States

misinterpreted..right..and i'm Noynoy
Everytime I read or hear news regarding this issue, people always point out that Ms. Diaz was misinterpreted. That she only meant for future beauty queens to have translators to better answer questions that were addressed in English. Or to better answer these types of questions that were not in their native dialect/language.
Yes, she did say the aforementioned and I agree with her, BUT when she said: "If you think about the Cebuana, can hardly speak English, and of course tagalog.." -Gloria Diaz. That's when she went out of line. That statement cannot be misinterpreted. That is clearly a condescending statement made towards the Cebuanos, or to be more specific, the Cebuana. Be it intentional or not, just shows how she really sees Cebuanos in my opinion. So I too, agree that she make a public apology else she be permanently persona non grata in Cebu.
You want to reconsider? Here is the interpretation-

Gloria for one seems poor in English because it is not too articulate. It is a taglish, so to speak. Note tthat Gloria is refering to only one Cebuana because it is singular (there is no "s"-(CEBUANAS MEANS ALL). The words "When you think"-means not definite nor final.
It only refers to one's assumption. Therefore what it meant her is "KASI, KUNG INAAKALA MO NA ANG ISANG BISAYA AY MAHINA SA ENGLISH"
Now guys, what is so hard to understand here? Gloria did not hurt anybody. She was only setting an example and she chosen a Cebuana and not anyone else because
chances are- Cebuanas are much more beautiful than the rest. If you still cannot understand, you guys better MAGAPATUKA NA LANG SA AHAS, Okay?

The main issue here is stereotyping. What she said is "when you think of a Cebuana can hardly speak English". That could be any Cebuana. Would you just accept if someone from a foreign country would say "A Filipino is illiterate"? That could be you.
We should not be worried on who or from which region of the Philippines speak better English but we should be more concern on the disease that Filipinos has been infected for so many many years...and that is "STEREOTYPING AND DISCRIMINATION OF OWN KIND".

i may believe that gloria diaz did not mean to belittle the cebuanos, yet cebuanos could not also be blamed if they took it that way. Hsd Ms.Diaz been tactful enough, they she could not be misinterpreted.
It would be arrogant of me to claim that all cebuanos speak english well. Yet, it is a fact that anywhere in the Philippines, there are those who can speak the language well, and there are also those who can't. Now, if she simply had to emphasize the need of an interpreter in a beauty pageant, why specify a region, or a certain group of people? (I'm sure, had she mentioned Ilongos, or Davaoenos, Boholanos, or other regions, aside from Cebuanos, those people would surely have such reactions as cebuanos have.)
On her point that she asked apologies from Cebuanos? why? Siya na nga ang nang-insulto, siya pa nanghingi ng apology?
And so what if she will never visit cebu again, what contribution from her would cebu lose?
