MANILA, Philippines – Filipino workers will not be deployed to crisis-hit Libya for now, after the Labor and Employment Department announced a total deployment ban to the country, citing the worsening security situation there.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration issued the ban after the Foreign Affairs Department raised the crisis alert level in Libya from 2 to 3.
Under alert level 3, Filipinos in Libya are urged to leave voluntarily, as soon as possible. The Philippine government will shoulder repatriation costs. -- News Now, ANC, June 1, 2014.
