The local premiere of "Les Miserables" was cancelled on Wednesday night moments before the film was set to be shown for the first time before a Filipino audience.

Invited audience members had already been allowed into the theater but the organizers announced the cancellation of the premiere screening due to "technical difficulties."

Several disappointed celebrities including Mylene Dizon, Cherie Gil and Agot Isidro turned to Twitter to express their frustration over what happened.

Also expressing her disappointment is veteran stage actress Pinky Amador, who opted to eat cake with her friends to make up for the cancelled screening.

On the flipside, not everyone was upset about the incident.

Veteran stage actor Leo Valdez, as well as performer Christian Bautista, said things like this happens and it they can only feel for the organizers.

Veteran actress Boots Anson Roa, meantime, noted the flexibility of Filipinos’ sense of humor despite the unexpected cancellation. – ANCALERTS, January 10, 2013
