MANILA, Philippines - Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile is open to a Commission on Audit probe of Senate funds.
Enrile said there is nothing anomalous about his move to distribute the Senate's savings to his colleagues since this has been the practice since the Cory Aquino administration.
He added the Senate has a committee on accounts, which monitors how the Senate's budget is spent. The committee is headed by Sen. Panfilo Lacson.
Enrile said every senator is required to file a liquidation report on how the additional funds are spent.
"We are not hiding anything. There is nothing anomalous. It is all in accordance with the rules of auditing. It is all in accordance with the practice of the Senate. I just inherited all of these," he said.
