MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Teofisto "TG" Guingona is still hoping the chamber will be able to pass legislation before the Senate goes on recess.
There are only six session days left, which Guingona said is enough time to pass the Anti-Money Laundering Law amendments, the Marcos Compensation Bill and the National Land Use Code.
Guingona said failure to pass amendments to the Anti-Money Laundering Law could lead to the Philippines being blacklisted by the Financial Action Task Force. He said this could affect overseas Filipino workers.
Meanwhile, Guingona said Liberal Party members will meet this week to discuss several issues including a possible change in the Senate leadership.
He said he is personally against any move that will hinder the passage of pending bills.
