MANILA, Philippines -  Several senator-judges on Monday denounced allegations made by the defense team of Chief Justice Renato Corona that Malacañang offered the senators P100 million in bribes.

In his manifestation, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada challenged the defense team to name their source. "Magpakalalaki tayo dito," he said.

Sen Allan Peter Cayetano, meanwhile, said the implication of the defense's allegation was that the President could order them around.

Sen. Pia Cayetano, meanwhile, said it is the duty of the counsels to uphold the dignity of the court and not promote distrust.

For his part, defense lawyer Jose Roy said it was not the defense team's intent to taint the integrity of the senators. He cited the attorney-client confidentiality rule in refusing to name source of bribery attempt allegation.

Meanwhile, the Senate impeachment court required the defense team to explain in writing why they should not be cited in contempt.
