AFP, PNP sign directive on election security
MANILA - The Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces signed a joint directive that covers guidelines on law enforcement, the implementation of a joint community control center and joint internal security operations including counter terrorism operations.
The PNP and the AFP will also coordinate in the campaign against loose firearms.
Present during the signing were PNP chief Alan Purisima, AFP chief of staff Emmanuel Bautista, and Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas.
Roxas said policemen who have relatives running in areas where they are assigned have been transferred.
The PNP also launched its handbook on personal security for candidates in the elections.
The handbook contains suggestions on threat detection, threat assessment, surveillance detection, personal security, security in the workplace and at home, during travel and while in campaign activities.
