QC solon met PSBank manager last January 31
MANILA, Philippines - PSBank Katipunan branch manager Annabel Tiongson said a congressman approached her in their bank branch asking for help on a signature card purportedly belonging to Chief Justice Renato Corona.
Tiongson said Quezon City 3rd District Rep. Jorge "Bolet" Banal went to their branch last January 31, 2012 and asked for help. She said Banal was showing a partly covered document that was allegedly similar to the signature card of Corona.
"It was a signature card of our bank. Initially, I did not see the name. Apparently, it was under the name of Chief Justice Corona," she said.
She said Banal asked about a dollar sign on the document. "What is this? Is this a dollar sign? When I said I cannot help him, he just left," she said.
She said she asked Banal how he got the document and the congressman answered: "I will tell you as soon as you help us...So many people are helping us."
"He was elusive. He did not want to disclose anything other than what he showed me," she added.
Tiongson said she is acquainted with Banal after meeting him at the inauguration of a covered court at Xavierville 1.
She said Banal's visit happened before the Senate impeachment court issued a subpoena for Corona's bank records. She said the visit also happened before Corona's bank records were forwarded from the Katipunan branch to the PSBank head branch.
She said PSBank conducted an internal investigation on a possible leak of the documents.
