MANILA, Philippines - Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile on Thursday allowed Justice Secretary Leila de Lima's testimony to remain on record, saying the hearsay rule does not strictly apply in impeachment cases.

Enrile said de Lima's testimony will stay on the record "as to the extent of the facts narrated by the witness."

On the other hand, he said the "extent of the truth and falsity of Supreme Court Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno's dissenting opinion, whether true or not, is hearsay" since de Lima is not competent to testify on the matter.
