Angelo Castro, Jr. veteran broadcast journalist and anchor of The World Tonight, has passed away.
Angelo Castro, Jr. or ACJ, had a long, courageous fight against lung cancer. He was 67 years old.
ACJ died at the St. Luke's Medical Center surrounded by his wife, June Keithley, their son, Diego, and other family members.
Castro joined ABS-CBN in 1986 when it re-opened after the EDSA revolution. Since that time, ACJ has been our boss, mentor, top anchor, colleague, friend and leader in many ways.
He anchored several news and current affairs specials in ABS-CBN and ANC including the ANC Chronicles, a special on the top stories covered by ANC over the past 15 years.
ABS-CBN and ANC are truly grateful to ACJ for setting an example of professionalism, creativity and passion for perfection.
As we bid goodbye to ACJ, our finest tribute will be to continue the work he loved so much. ANC, April 5, 2012
