MANILA, Philippines - Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is suffering from shingles (herpes zoster) but still went to her arraignment at the Sandiganbayan Wednesday morning.
Her lawyer, Laurence Arroyo, said the former president has been feeling ill but still insisted to attend the arraignment today.
"She was diagnosed with shingles, which is something akin to chickenpox. She was advised by her doctors not to attend the arraignment but she insisted..." Arroyo told Mornings@ANC.
"She wanted to face squarely the charges against her and get the trial going," he added.
