MANILA, Philippines – Senator-judge Francis Escudero on Thursday said the testimony of Chief Justice Renato Corona can “make or break” his case in the impeachment trial.

Escudero said the chief magistrate’s testimony will be a big factor on how the senator-judges will decide in the impeachment trial.

“Para sa akin, make or break ito para sa kanya. Dyan nakabase, sa malaking parte or bahagi ang decision ng senator judges. Diretso na ika nga straight from the horse's mouth, walang nang pwedeng i-pass na responsibility or sisi sa iba. The buck stops with him, sink or swim depende sa sasabihin or hindi sasabihin sa testimony nya,” he said.

Escudero, meanwhile, said the examination of hostile witnesses in the trial will be more like an interrogation.

He said during the testimony of a hostile witness, the defense may ask leading questions without objections from the prosecution.
