Corona: I don't have 82 accounts
MANILA, Philippines - Chief Justice Renato Corona on Tuesday denied that he owned 82 dollar accounts as alleged in an Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) report.
"Wala akong kilalang taong may 82 bank accounts. Ewan ko kay Ombudsman Carpio-Morales kung siya mayroon," he said.
Corona said the AMLC report allegedly saying that he had $10 million-$12 million in "transactional balances" was not authenticated.
"Walang predicate crime, walang imbestigasyon, walang court order, walang notice sa depositor...Clearly, it came from a polluted source," he said.
He added: "It is clear that her testimony was one of deception, exaggeration and misrepresentation."
He said he will present a PowerPoint presentation to explain his accounts.
