Jinggoy: No proof Corona stole money
MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Friday urged the Aquino administration not to file cases against deposed chief justice Renato Corona for failing to disclose his assets in his SALNs.
Estrada told radio dzMM the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, did not prove that Corona’s $2.4 million in dollar deposits and P80 million in “commingled funds” were ill-gotten.
However, he also said he cannot stop the BIR or the Office of the Ombudsman from filing cases if it is proven that the money was stolen from government coffers.
“Ibang usapan nay un,” he said.
