Carpio, de Lima inhibit from JBC nominations
MANILA, Philippines - Acting chief justice Antonio Carpio and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima inhibited themselves from participating in the Judicial and Bar Council proceedings amid reports that they are being considered for the post of chief justice.
The JBC is starting the selection process on the replacement of Renato Corona as chief magistrate following his removal last week.
June 18 is the deadline for nominations for the next chief justice.
Carpio is one of 5 senior members in the SC and is automatically nominated for the position. De Lima's name has also been floated for the position.
Both are members of the JBC.
