MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino made a surprise visit at the PAGASA office in Quezon City after PAGASA employees protested the suspension of their benefits.
A radio dzMM report said Aquino, Budget Secretary Butch Abad and Science and Technology Secretary Mario Montejo went to PAGASA to speak to uniformed personnel and forecasters of the state weather bureau.
The report said Communications Secretary Sonny Coloma made no mention of Aquino's visit today during his conversation with PAGASA officials.
Philippine Weathermen Employees Association (PWEA) President Ramon Agustin said the government failed to fulfill its promise to reinstate P7,000 to P8,000 in monthly Magna Carta benefits by the first week of August.
