Arroyo doc: Choking could lead to cardiac arrest
MANILA, Philippines - A doctor of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo recommended immediate treatment of a displaced titanium implant in Mrs. Arroyo's spine.
Dr. Robert Anastacio, a resident cardiologist at the Makati Medical Center, said the choking sensation experienced by Mrs. Arroyo means that there is difficulty of flow of air into the lungs.
"It must be remembered that the lungs and the heart cannot function without the other. If we stop the airflow, there is a danger of the heart being affected and going into cardiac arrest," he said.
