DILG employees face future without Robredo
MANILA, Philippines - After a long weekend, employees of the Department of the Interior and Local Government must now face work without their well-loved boss, the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo.
DILG employees as well as representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection and Philippine National Police attended mass at the DILG headquarters Wednesday.
Employees praised Robredo for his humility and friendly demeanor. They said the DILG Secretary would sometimes line up with them to take the elevator instead of using it all by himself.
Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa also visited the DILG after being assigned as OIC of the department after Robredro's death.
He said the first order of the day is to conduct an inventory of pending projects left behind by Robredo, and identify which ones are marked as priority.
Ochoa said he has sent his condolences to Robredo's family. He also said his stay at the DILG is temporary.
He said President Aquino assigned him to take over the DILG temporarily so that there will be no gaps or delays in delivery of services to LGUs.
