MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang on Wednesday said it will give a state funeral to the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.
"All expenses will be defrayed as well as fullest honors and military honors for him," Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said.
Presidential Communications Undersecretary Manolo Quezon said Robredo's remains will be brought to Malacañang Palace on Friday, August 24. It will be brought back to Naga City on Sunday, August 26.
Various informed services will give honors to Robredo including departure honors by the PNP when the casket is brought from the Archbishop's Palace to Naga Airport; arrival honors at the Villamor Air Base by the Armed Forces; escort, arrival honors and gun salute by the PSG in Malacañang.
"The remains will lie in state on Friday until the morning of Sunday, August 26, when PSG will escort the remains to Villamor and then various uniformed services will participate," Quezon said.
At the internment on Tuesday, various uniformed services will give the following honors: escort batallion, funeral cortege, arrival honors, gun salute, 3-volley salute, playing of taps and the handing of the national flag that covered Robredo's coffin to the widow.
Quezon said there will be an opening of books of condolence in Philippine consulates and embassies.
He said all National Artists are also given state funerals.
