good point...
I recently graduated BS Nursing from one of the prestigious universities here in Cebu. I also took the July 2010 NLE & just this Friday the PRC released the list of those students who passed the said exam & gladly I was one of them.
The sad reality that thousands of new nurses are facing is devastating. Many newly licensed nurses are jobless while some are doing run-of-the-mill jobs in spas that do not really care about their licenses that they have toiled with sweat & blood for. It is a melancholic scene to behold that even hospitals here in the country could not compensate for the hardwork that nurses give. Yes it is true that job opportunities beyond Philippine shores are inviting but the question still remains on how to get there the soonest possible time.
I believe that the Professional Regulatory Commission made quite a point in discouraging future college students in taking up Nursing. Truly it is an unfortunate fate for those who have earned their licenses & yet not able to make use of it because of the despicable situation that the country is in. It is the responsibility of the Commission on Higher Education to regulate Nursing schools that’s been sprouting like mushrooms in the country. It is a very gloomy scenario that many licensed nurses are jobless due to the boom of newly licensed nurses yearly which hospitals around the country cannot cater for.
This is a wake up call for all those who are responsible for this sad reality…
STUPID...STUPID...PRC
PRC should coordinate with the DOLE to find suitable jobs for all its licensed professionals. What is PRC all about if its only regulation is to give examinations and issue licenses.
Its time to re-evaluate the function of PRC or better make it as an agency of DOLE.
stupid suggestion
