Aquino inako ang madugong hostage drama
Mahigit isang linggo matapos ang hostage crisis, inako ng Pangulo ang responsibilidad sa lahat ng nangyari at kinalabasan nito.
Ayon sa Pangulo, siya at hindi si Department of the Interior and Locan Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo ang may direktang kontrol sa Philippine National Police (PNP).
Nang ialok ang trabaho kay Robredo, inatasan siya ng Pangulo na pangasiwaan ang ibang bagay na may kinalaman sa mga lokal na pamahalaan.
Bago umupong kalihim si Robredo, si Aquino rin ang sandaling tumayong hepe ng DILG.
Taliwas naman ito sa naging pahayag ng Pangulo kasunod ng hostage crisis na si DILG Undersecretary Rico Puno ang direktang may hawak sa kapulisan.
Inako man ng Pangulo ang responsibilidad. Ang pinasususpindi lamang niya ay ang mga tauhan na nasa ibaba ng ranggo at puwesto ni PNP chief Jesus Versoza.
Huli man, naihabol din ang pag-ako ng Pangulo sa responsibilidad, pero aabangan pa rin kung kasunod nito ay may magbabago na ba sa kakayahan ng pulis na rumesponde sa krisis. – Willard Cheng, Patrol ng Pilipino

The first positive step
The first positive step taken by Pnoy, though long delayed, must be congratulated. But it is just one small step.
The people are keeping their eyes and ears open for the results of the investigations, they are looking forward to see that the truth will come out and all those responsible held accountable according to the degree of their accountability. People are hope that each and everyone of his men will follow his lead to take responsibility, in action and not just in words.
But all those are prescriptions for the symptoms, we are looking forward for meaningful prescription for the cause of the illness too.
Aside from proper orientation, training, and equipment, more importantly is the true cause of all of these - inequality and grievances.
Of Mendoza and the Euro Generals, if both are guilty, why one was dismissed while the other gets promoted? if both are innocent, why one needs to resort to hostagetaking as last avenue to claim his rights and honor while the other simply needs to seat in the comfort of their offices? Come to think of it, Mendoza's case was one's word against the other, while the Euro Generals' case comes with much material, official and personal evidences.
Further, it just came out from the IIRC hearing that for the case of Mendoza, Director Gonzales of the Ombudsman was asking fo P150,000 from Mendoza which he was not able to give that is why he got the dismissal order. This definitely contribute to why Mendoza sees hostagetaking as his only option.
