MANILA, Philippines - If he can manage it, President Aquino should take regular breaks to recover from the stresses of the presidency.
Former President Joseph Estrada on Monday said he would advice Aquino to pace himself and take breaks whenever necessary so he would not get sick.
"Dapat ipe-pacing lang," he told radio DZMM.
He said that when he was president, he would take a break and delegate the work to a Cabinet member if he feels that the official can handle it.
"Dapat talaga dahil napakabigat ng pagiging Pangulo sa dami ng problema ng bansa at hindi na malaman kung minsan lalo na yung nga papeles na pipirmihan mo umaabot ako ng hanggang alas-3 ng umaga," he said.
Estrada said he also smoked when he was still president as a way to de-stress.
He stopped short of advising Aquino to kick the habit, saying that quitting is a personal choice.
"When I have a problem, minsan yun na lang (smoking) ang magiging outlet. Hindi naman masyado (nakakaapekto) kasi outlet nga lang yun dahil sobrang daming problema ng presidente tapos ang daming ibinibintang na wala naman basehan," he said.
