The Armed Forces honors 21 soldiers for their act of heroism at the height of Typhoon Pablo in Compostela Valley, one of the hardest-hit areas in Mindanao.
The army gave bronze cross medals to the soldiers who helped in the evacuation of Andap village during the storm.
Today, Army chief Liutenant General Emmanuel Bautista pinned the medals to four injured soldiers recuperating at the AFP Medical Center.
A separate awarding ceremony will be held in Camp Panacan Hospital in Davao City for the 17 other soldiers.
Seven soldiers died during the operation, while four others are still missing.
The families of the 7 fatalities were each given P500,000 as financial assistance, while the injured soldiers will each receive P150,000.
